Alexandria, La. (May 29, 2020) — June 1 marks the official beginning of hurricane season, which runs through Nov. 30. This year, forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are predicting a 60 percent chance we will see an above-average hurricane season. Specifically they are projecting 13-19 named storms – the first named storm of the season, Arthur, has already occurred. Alexandria, La. (May 19, 2020) — All City of Alexandria office buildings, including the Utility Customer Service building, City Hall, the Public Safety Complex, the Alexandria Zoo, the Animal Shelter and other departments will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

(May 18, 2020) — As part of the Phase 1 reopening plan, The City of Alexandria is now allowing limited public access to the Utility Customer Service Building, located at 625 Murray Street downtown, with safety restrictions in place. Customers seeking to pay their utility bill should continue to use the drive-thru window, dropbox or pay by mail, online or at any First Federal Bank of Louisiana location.
