Press Release - July 17, 2025
The City of Alexandria has prepared for emergency operations should the need to convert occur over the next 48 hours. The City follows a plan of activities and creates more individualized operational plans, as needed. The Emergency Operations Team met formally over the last two days, staging extra generators, equipment, crews, and action plans across the city’s departments. The Mayor ordered special attention to clean out of troubled spots, specific staging of mobile generators and pumps at certain areas, and other special preparations based on known challenges in past events. We hope to be outside of the more concerning, higher risk areas expected to be hit by the weather events, and we are monitoring the weather closely. All City operations will go on in regular time and manner, as of now. We will issue any further notices if the predictions change or an emergency is declared.
The Emergency Operations Team (EOT) supports resource needs and requests, including allocation and deployment to trouble spots. The EOT serves as a single source for requesting additional resources from across the City and works with the parish and other jurisdictions, as needed. The EOT gives tactical instructions or dispatches resources requested from tactical leaders.
While we pray there is no need to declare any emergency, we stand ready to act. Check on your neighbors and family members in need. Contact us in the case of emergency. Pray for those who may be more directly in the path of the storm to be safe.
