(April 6, 2021) — Starting Wednesday, April 7, the Alexandria Zoo will be open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with last admission at 3:30 p.m. “The Alexandria Zoo will continue to operate with a modified guest experience,” explained Zoo Director Dr. Max Lakes. “The traffic flow will remain a one-way trail with the number of guests allowed into the zoo limited to eliminate crowding. • Tuesday, March 29 – regular pickup
• Wednesday, March 30 – Thursday’s pickup
• Thursday, April 1 – Friday’s pickup

(March 5, 2021) — The Coughlin Saunders Performing Arts Center is reopen effective immediately, according to Chief Operating Officer Matt Henry. “We are open under the Phase 3 guidelines,” Henry said. “We have ASH in here right now getting ready for a show next week. John Bel Edward’s decision to move to Phase 3 guidelines for public health, the City of Alexandria plans to reopen its community centers and meeting facilities starting Monday, April 5. Alexandria, La. (February 26, 2021) — The City of Alexandria announced creation of a historical marker that will be erected at 819 Lee Street, the site of the Lee Street Riot of 1942. The City of Alexandria started the water testing process required to end the current boil advisory on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Testing can take 24-48 hours or longer.
