Husband and wife art duo Harikrishnan Panicker & Deepti Nair (known as Hari & Deepti) began experimenting with paper and lights in 2010, creating illuminated cut paper sculptures which tell stories. Based in Mumbai, Hari and Deepti have traveled and worked throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Creativity through meditation workshop, with autographed books.
In this hands-on workshop, John Simon, Jr. will introduce the drawing and mindfulness techniques that form the basis of his meditation practice - described in his recent publication Drawing Your Own Path. Participants will be led through a variety of approaches to creativity using mindful mark making followed by a discussion about how to work with the results.

Learn traditional yet simple paper making techniques using a variety of organic material and paper ‘rags’ to create a colorful, textured and layered composition. Objectives will focus on proper preparation of materials, applications and drying techniques that will provide participants the knowledge to create more works on their own.

Youth Art Month (YAM) in March is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school art programs. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are not possible in other subjects.
Art Education develops self-esteem, appreciation of the work of others, self-expression, cooperation with others, and critical thinking skills. All of these skills are vital to the success of our future leaders – our children.

This on-going series for adults offers instruction, experience with other dry mediums, constructive critique, and inspiration from exhibitions.

In connection with Hari & Deepti: Light by the Forest, we will screen a short Balinese Shadow Puppet show which was a source of inspiration for the artists in the Winter exhibition.
We will also venture into other types of paper art with the award winning documentary, Between the Folds, about artists and scientists who have devoted their lives to origami and reinterpreting the medium of paper.
